The Impact You'll Make in this Role
The Director, US Federal Government Affairs is primarily responsible to develop and implement an effective government relations strategy focused on advocating the new health care company business interests and managing relationships with the U.S. Congress, Administration, and other government decision-makers and those who influence decisions across all government federal, state and local jurisdictions.
As a Director, US Federal Government Affairs, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
* Developing and leading Solventum's US Government Affairs strategic plan and lobbying efforts at a Federal level.
* Provide counsel, insight and support to senior executive management on all government-related issues and activities, including ESG-related public policies.
* Work closely with business leaders to identify government-related growth opportunities and develop and implement advocacy strategies for achieving growth goals and objectives.
* Proactively partner with Corporate Affairs, Legal, HR, Finance-Tax, EHS and others to engage and communicate with policy makers and regulators on policies and issues relevant to our corporate reputation, raising Solventum's profile and reputation with governments at all levels as a globally respected and admired company.
* Develop, build and maintain robust relationships with all levels of U.S. government.
* Oversee and manage the work of all consultants retained by Government Affairs for work at Federal level. Support oversight for consultants working across Government Affairs.
* Monitor key bills, issues, government positions and decisions and pro-actively inform and advise internal decision makers on risks, opportunities and actions to be taken.
* Work closely with and leverage industry associations, business coalitions and interest groups to pursue policy, legislative, regulatory and trade goals, drive growth, protect the company and raise Solventum's public profile.
* You will be a strong people leader who directs your team of professionals, aligning them to our strategy and further supporting their career and professional development.
* Comply and work together with Ethics and Compliance to achieve the highest level of ethical standards and FCPA compliance in all activities especially in this high-risk public domain.
* You will ensure that all compliance reporting (lobbying and political financial) for the organization is properly managed and reported on based on local and federal laws.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree or higher AND (10) years of experience in the field of federal government relations or government experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
* Master's degree, MBA degree or other advanced degree.
* Technical: depth of expertise in government policies, legislation and regulatory processes and political dynamics. Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking capabilities.
* Work Experience: Proven track record driving advocacy and legislative work for a major trade association or multi-national corporation
* Collaboration and communication skills: External relationships are paramount and include politicians, government executives, industry associations, and industry representative peers. Demonstrates superior interpersonal, negotiating, strategic, analytical and advocacy skills, as well as outstanding listening skills and cultural sensitivity. Ability to engage with a broad range of industry and third-party stakeholders to generate consensus, influence outcomes, and build relationships. Is a great communicator, in written communication and verbal/public communication.
* Leadership skills: Recognized leader, inclusive - recognizes value of and actively seeks diversity of thought; displays emotional intelligence. Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $222,044 - $271,387, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
