Ada County Prosecutor ($27/hr + D.O.E. Perform subpoena service, professional investigative services, and related duties for the Ada County Prosecutor's Office. The position is located in the Ada County Prosecutor's Office. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This part-time position will primarily provide subpoena service. As such, the incumbent will work independently to locate and serve individuals. The work may be hazardous, and requires law enforcement experience. This position involves a variety of investigative work ranging from routine investigator activities to the development and utilization of tactical street intelligence to provide information in the prosecution of felony and misdemeanor cases. The incumbent works with prosecuting attorneys and is granted considerable latitude. Completed work is reviewed from an overall standpoint in terms of feasibility, compatibility with other work, and effectiveness in meeting expected results. Essential Functions + Works independently to locate individuals and serve subpoenas on those involved in the prosecution of cases; + Conducts comprehensive reviews of police investigations, identifies problems and deficiencies; + Coordinates and/or conducts additional investigative activities by filling gaps identified in cases; + Examines crime scenes and physical evidence to gain information for the prosecution; + Takes photographs, as necessary; + Interviews witnesses, business professionals, police officers, clients, and documents relevant interviews; + Identifies possible suspects using a working knowledge of criminal investigative procedures, and documents additional evidence; + Researches the background of persons relative to the cases; + Testifies in court regarding investigative actions taken and pertinent results; and, + Serves as a liaison between the Prosecuting Attorney's Office and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Job Requirements + A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification, and two years' experience as a patrol officer; + Considerable knowledge of the principles, procedures, and practices of criminal investigation; + Considerable knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws; + Good working knowledge of the Idaho criminal justice system; + Good working knowledge of photographic techniques and interpretation; + Good working knowledge of possible sources of information relating to property and/or persons involved in specific crimes; + Good working knowledge of community and other resources available to help find the current location of individuals; + Good knowledge of investigative techniques; + Skill in interviewing witnesses, victims, and related parties; + Skill in the use of firearms and self-defense techniques; + Ability to gain trust and confidence of witnesses, victims and related parties; + Ability to analyze difficult investigatory problems; + Ability to adopt effective courses of action; + Ability to draw appropriate conclusions; + Ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive written reports; + Ability to communicate with and relate to a wide variety of professionals, police officers, victims and witnesses; + Ability to conduct productive interviews; + Ability to document cases and present such to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office; + Ability to give clear and convincing testimony in court; + Ability to work effectively with situations that may be highly emotional in nature. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: + The incumbent is subject to criminal records check and fingerprinting; + Must adhere to the Code of Ethics for the legal profession; + The incumbent will work closely with law enforcement and court personnel; + The incumbent is expected to maintain working knowledge and flexibility of computers and other office equipment, i.e., Fax machines, copiers, telephones; + This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing. Work Environment & Physical Demands + The Investigator must conduct interviews in private homes and public places, such as offices, hospitals, nursing homes, and jails; + Must attend meetings, conduct interviews, and otherwise perform normal business activities of the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Frequently works long and late hours outside of normal business hours due to contacting witnesses and preparing for trials; + Must present a professional appearance.
