The Water Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and dispatching personnel and resources for the maintenance, repair, and operation of water distribution systems. This role ensures efficient allocation of resources to handle water system issues, including emergencies, maintenance work, and customer service requests. The Water Dispatcher serves as a critical communication hub between field crews, customers, and management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dispatch field crews and equipment for the repair, maintenance, and operation of water distribution systems, including leaks, outages, and emergency repairs.
• Monitor water distribution systems using computerized control systems (SCADA) to detect issues such as pressure drops, leaks, or equipment failures.
• Coordinate response to emergency situations such as water main breaks, contamination incidents, or other service interruptions.
• Communicate with customers regarding water service issues, outages, and service requests, ensuring timely updates and resolutions.
• Maintain real-time communication with field crews, providing updates on work orders, locations, and necessary equipment.
• Prioritize and schedule maintenance and repair activities based on urgency and available resources.
• Record and track the status of work orders, field reports, and system issues in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other departments to optimize water distribution operations and improve service reliability.
• Provide reports on system performance, response times, and service incidents for review by management.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations during dispatch and operational activities.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in water resources, public utilities, or a related field is a plus.
• Experience in water distribution, dispatching, or a related utility service.
• Familiarity with water distribution systems, SCADA systems, and work order management software.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
• Ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations and prioritize responses effectively.
• Basic knowledge of water treatment processes and pipeline infrastructure is preferred.
• Proficient in using computer systems for dispatching, tracking, and communication.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience in a dispatcher role within a utility or water management setting.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to water distribution.
